Appley Bridge

This morning was bright and sunny so we set off early(ish). The water level was back to normal and after the first 2 locks into Wigan we paired up with a lovely couple on  their boat called Blueberry. They had just sold it and were en-route to Burscough to deliver it to it’s new owner.

Once we got through Wigan town the countryside opened up and the scenery was quite beautiful.
We passed Wigan Athletic F.C.’s ground

And the Heinz baked beans factory (I prefer Aldi's beans myself)

And cruised yet again underneath the M6 motorway.

sharing the locks with 'Blueberry'
We’re now moored in the village of Appley Bridge.

After hardly seeing any boats since we left Boothstown we were surprised to see just how busy it is here; there are even boats double breasted up outside the pub!
